Blooming Thoughts
Some consider writing to be a talent or a gift, while others believe it is a skill that can be taught. My thought is this, you can’t teach honesty, charisma, and vulnerability. These are the specific elements that are captivating, this is what pulls the reader in and gets them excited for more. On the other hand, you don’t need to be an author or award winner to be able to share a compelling story.
Overthinking has a tendency to hinder creativity and the ability to be open in general. Think about it, you tell stories all the time. As soon as something you consider news worthy happens you are probably getting ready to inform your go to person about whatever just occurred in your life (for me that’s typically my sister), after a long work day you’re getting ready to head out for drinks and gab about your day, and after an even a longer week you’re spilling about your experiences with your circle at brunch.
I say this because people often look at me like they have just been struck by lightning when I tell them I love writing. I’m frequently told “I could never do that!” or even hit with a “Why?” with a matching facial expression of confusion. I think it’s kind of funny honestly and rarely take offense to the second reaction. The only difference of what I love to do, and what everyone does almost everyday is that I put my daily situations to paper. I typically reply with “I’ve been through a lot and love sharing what I’ve learned along the way.” or simply with “It started as an outlet, then turned into something more.” We all have stories, we all have something we want to say, and some choose to keep those locked away, some share them with their circle, and then there’s me who just to tells them freely.
Experiences shape thoughts, thoughts produce actions, and actions produce results. Your ability to express what’s cultivated in your mind will help you get closer to the life you see in your head. Don’t lose track of some of your best ideas, dreams, and stories because you’re scared to share them. If you don’t want to tell people, write them down, just make sure you get them out. Not just for you but also for others, you don’t know who you could help along the way by sharing pieces of your authentic self.
Until next time… let your thoughts bloom.
